Well Made and Well Designed Except...

I really like this pannier. The design with pockets and features are some of the best I've had. The pockets, pouches, sleeves are well done and thought out and I have secure places all of my gear (tools, lock, cable, patch kit, lights, etc, and even laptop storage, up against the supported interior/wheel side). I also enjoy the shoulder strap.

What makes this not a perfect 5 star? The hook and loop system works but it is not easy to quickly attach or detach from my rack, which is a standard rack. It is not the Ortlieb quick-lock system. It is secure and appears to be flexible for different racks or tubes. It is just not easy to get the straps around the rack and secured.

Time for a new pannier design

I had 2 urban ex panniers for about 8 years that the welding finally failed on and used the credit from those to get this. All the other reviewers have already called out how wonky the straps are so I'm pulling those out right away and replacing them with vinyl coated S hooks and a voile strap, but the design flaw that no one has mentioned is this bag is made with the waterproof tarp lining but has an open top covered by a flap. It's not a "roll top" like it says in the description. Why would you do that? There's always a chance that water's going to get in onto your stuff. There's no way I'd trust this in any sort of precipitation. Also worth noting that when I went to remove the shoulder strap after I received the bag the clip broke. So that's immediately useless. Have had a lot of Chrome stuff over the years that I've loved, but this one's a serious fail from the design to the materials.

    Who designed this?

Why make such a good looking bag and put the crappiest straps on it? I was waiting for this thing to fall off my bike and it finally did. Twice. The bottom strap is doing all the work so when it wouldn’t stay closed, the Velcro straps on the top just kept unsticking. Had to bike home with this over my shoulder and when I get home the bottom strap was gone so now I have to figure out a different way to use this bag. Buy from rei so you can return!! That’s probably what I’ll be doing . Bummer.
