    New exterior pocket is great

This is my first Chrome backpack and I’m pretty happy with it. It’s much bigger than I need for my daily commute but I’m happy to have the space. I’m glad this newer model has the extra exterior pocket too, makes it easy to toss my wallet and AirPods in there. 10/10!

    Excellent Daily Driver

I look at my Chrome backpacks like I look at my boots; I expect to be able to put them anywhere without worrying about what might happen. My Urban Ex 20L replaced my 18L Hondo from Chrome when its zipper came off track (still need to warranty it!) and I just wanted a new bag ASAP. I was looking for a backpack that fit the maximum dimensions for a typical personal item on a flight and appreciate having the ability to unroll the bag and fit even more in it when overall size isn't an issue. Compared to a zipper closure the roll top has been excellent for me; the only thing I miss from my Hondo was exterior access to a smaller pocket but that's just the design of the bag. Decent prices, excellent build quality, and thoughtful designs mean my next backpack will likely be from Chrome too. If you are an exterior pocket lover this bag isn't for you but otherwise I have zero complaints from living with this bag for 2+ years now.

    Robust, comfortable, perfect size

So far very happy with this bag, It's completely waterproof, the material feels strong, it's comfortable to wear even over long distances, and this new version has a handy new laptop sleeve and a slightly bigger capacity than my older version Urban Ex Backpack which is handy. Over a great backpack, as expected from Chrome.

An upgrade on the already great Urban Ex

I was a happy owner of the "1.0" Urban Ex backpack for over 5 years and I'm happy to report that this latest one is even better with a slightly lighter (but still reliable-feeling) material and the internal laptop sleeve.

A few changes from the last version of this bag

This is the 2nd version of this bag I bought as I liked my first one so much. I've had the new one for a few weeks now and here's my reflections.

The fabric of the bag is much thinner than the previous version. It's much lighter, but feels less sturdy. If you hold the new version to light, it shines through. The old one didn't.

The previous version had a very handy storage pouch on the inside of the front, and a pouch for a laptop. This has now been combined and is not anywhere near as good. It also had a small ziplock pocket on outside of the top. That has been moved to the side of the bag and is a waste of space, because if the bag is full it's really difficult to get anything into it. Plus it went from being in a useful position, to one that's annoying to get to.

The older version had a study slide clip buckle on the straps which held the straps in place when riding. That has been replaced with a smaller and flimsy feeling clip.

I'm sure many of these changes were a result of customer research. On my reflection from one version of the same bag to the next, it just makes the bag feel cheaper. I just wish I had got my original version repaired.
